Applesauce - excellent source of fiber, vitamin A and potassium
1 - 5lb bag of Organic Gala Apples - $3.99
- Peel, chop and boil apple chunks until soft. Puree with cooking water until desired constancy is reached.
(Because Chase is a little older and mashing with his gums ok I made his applesauce a bit chunky this time :)
- Portion into Baby Food Trays and freeze!

Roasted Butternut Squash - great source of beta carotene - super anti-oxidant!
1 medium size butternut squash .. looks like this...Cut in half and put on roasting pan cut side up.
Bake at 400 deg for 60-90 minutes until soft.
Cool, peel off skin, and puree with warm water until desired constancy is reached.
Portion into Baby Food Trays and freeze!

And finally the piece de resistance .. Steak Dinner!

10 Organic Carrots peeled and chopped = $1.20
1 cup Brown Rice = $.30
- Slice steak into cubes and simmer in 3 cups of water for 5 minutes until fully cooked.
- Carrots can be simmered with the meat but I chose to steam them to try and retain more of the nutrients.
- Boil and cool brown rice.
- Combine with beef cooking water and puree
- Portion into Baby Food Trays and freeze
This amount made 36 servings = $0.33 per serving
I served Chase his steak with green beans and he loved it!
